Indemnity plans provide a flat coverage amount for the dental procedure no matter what the costs.  This type of plan is considered to be a consumer driven plan.  The consumer is driven to find the best deal because they will pay the extra expense if the coverage provided is less then the dental procedure or pocket the money if less.

Traditional plans provide coverage with a typical co-pay, coinsurance, and coverage's.  The traditional dental plans are typically offered when group dental plans are provided and the majority of the market is accustomed to these types of plans.  They are available as PPO or HMO plans.
